Ownership is looking for a Full-time Closing Manager (~35-40 hours week) to oversee operations of the store in the afternoons and evening with potential to grow into other areas of management. Opportunities to learn both about product (beer, wine, spirits, and specialty foods) and business in general make this position an ideal steppingstone for motivated individuals.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage staff and operations during afternoon and evening shifts with some opening shifts mixed in
• Work with the rest of management to create a positive environment for customers, staff, and vendors and oversee and ensure smooth operations
• Serve as first point of contact with customers, greeting and helping with product questions ensuring they find products, making recommendations where appropriate
• Work with the rest of management to oversee and develop entry-level employees, assisting with hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, etc
• Use POS system to process customer transactions
• Oversee and assist staff with receiving deliveries, inventorying, merchandising
• Answer phones and other administrative tasks
• Oversee and assist with deliveries to customers

Candidate Attributes

• Capable and experienced with managing junior level employees in every aspect of store operations, giving direction and encouragement or correction when needed, driving accountability for responsibilities in the store
• Entrepreneurial mentality – committed to working in every area of the business
  • Must be willing to jump in wherever needed, from most managerially and strategically advanced to most basic tasks in any area of the business
• Extreme level of organization and time management necessary, including ability to prioritize tasks for self and others, giving clear direction when needed
• Must be outgoing, an excellent communicator, friendly, reliable, & passionate
• Eager and committed to constantly improving knowledge of wine, other product offerings, and business as a whole and imparting that knowledge to others
• General interest in learning more about business management

Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge and passion for Craft Beer, spirits, and wine
  • Professional certification huge plus (Cicerone, SWE, WSET, etc.)
• 3-5 years of beverage or hospitality industry experience
• Minimum of 2-3 years of alcoholic beverage retail management experience, including
• Up-to-date TIPS certification (or equivalent program in responsible alcohol handling and service)
• Must be experienced in inventory management, pricing, POS interface, and other aspects of retail operations management
• Must be proficient with either Google or Microsoft Office Suite
• Must be able to routinely work weekends, evenings, and holidays
• Capable of routinely lifting and moving 35-50lbs
• Have reliable personal transportation and within reasonable commuting distance of Needham
